Year 10
After hitting the ground running at the end of the Summer term, we are looking forward to welcoming our students back into Y10 as they commence their GCSE courses. I hope this is an exciting and rewarding time for them as they begin to shape their journey at Acland Burghley School. Alongside this, we are looking ahead to their Work Experience placements at the end of the academic year (June 2025) and hope this will be a real motivator for them as they continue their hard work throughout the year. We also have mid-year exams in the Spring term which will be an excellent opportunity for students to see their hard work paying off, as they start to see their results given back in reference to GCSE grades that they’re working towards.
By this point students should be settled into their subjects and confident in the decisions they have made, however in exceptional circumstances where a particular option has not been the right fit, we may be able to accommodate a late change to a students options choices. If you think this is applicable to your child please get in touch as soon as possible.
Students will have noticed the increasing expectations we have for them as they move through the school, both in terms of their behaviour and application to their subjects. The completion of homework, focussed behaviour in lessons, and ensuring they come to school on time and prepared for the day, these are all non-negotiables for students undertaking their GCSE courses and students will be reminded of this as they embark on Y10. With three year groups now below them, many students at the school will be looking up to them and staff will be expecting this year group to set the standards for others to follow.
As before, form tutors will continue to be the first point of contact for day-to-day queries and issues that may arise so please reach out to them if you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s progress. Tutors are also the first point of contact for students as they are the staff member that will see them most over the course of the week. The full tutor list is below.
For wider questions or serious concerns about progress and behaviour, please continue to contact myself via email at wallen@aclandburghley.camden.sch.uk.
I am really excited to be continuing this journey with the students and I look forward to guiding them through the next stage in their school journey. I hope they share this excitement for the future, they should all be incredibly proud of how far they have come over the past few years!
