Students Celebrate National Poetry Day with Manjeet Mann at the British Library
In celebration of National Poetry Day, a group of our Y9 students had the exciting opportunity to visit the British Library for a special livestreamed poetry workshop led by multi-award-winning author, poet and playwright Manjeet Mann.
This unique experience brought creativity to life in one of the most inspiring literary spaces. Manjeet Mann – author of The Crossing and the newly released Roar – is known for her powerful use of verse to explore themes of identity, courage, and social justice. Her engaging workshop encouraged our students to find their own voices through poetry, exploring creativity, emotion, and personal storytelling.
One student commented,
It was amazing to meet someone who writes inspiring books and hearing how she turns important topics into poetry made me want to try writing more myself.
For many, the visit to the British Library – home to centuries of literary treasures – was a highlight in itself, enriching the workshop experience. This memorable day not only celebrated the joy of poetry, but also encouraged students to find their voice through imaginative language.
We look forward to many more visits to the British Library.
