Y9 fundraising for a local homeless charity
Deadline for donations: Friday 5 December
Following on from the last year's successful charitable endeavours, from our shoe box collections to raising funds for a local homeless charity. It was great to witness the year group come together for a good cause and to keep this going for this year we are pleased to share that our Y9 cohort will be taking part in a community project this term in collecting donations for the Refugee Community Kitchen, a charity that provides nutritious meals and essential support to displaced individuals and families.
As part of their Personal Development curriculum, students will be learning about community action, empathy, and social responsibility. They will also have the opportunity to contribute through a combination of awareness-raising and food or supply donations.
How families can support
- Students will aim to bring in non-perishable food items (rice, lentils, tinned vegetables, herbs and spices) or essential supplies (washing-up liquid, foil containers, cooking oil).
- Please encourage your child to take part and discuss the importance of community service at home.
Please see below a list of items sought after by the charity, they are in need of sugar, hot chocolate and olive oil for the winter period. The deadline to bring in any items in to school is Friday 5 December. Thank you for your continued support.
